The root of the word culture is the Latin word colere, meaning “to tend, cultivate.”
What is being cultivated at Windsor Circle?
Transparency, openness, strong work ethic, and FUN.
We are reminded at almost every meeting of these core values. Since openness and transparency are at the forefront, it’s not surprising to that this is the most collaborative, communicative environment I’ve ever worked in.
Voices are heard here, and insights are valued at every level of the organization.
Great ideas come from all directions and in unexpected places. One of our designers has made some incredible suggestions for predictive algorithms (out of her scope, extremely helpful).
We also enjoy each other’s company immensely. Weekly happy hours at the local pub are a highlight for me – and the insistence on leaving work conversation at the door. Friendships are cultivated that go far beyond the office hours (and thus make office communication that much more enjoyable and easy).
We are a tight knit team being cultivated to communicate openly… a recipe for healthy growth.
Culture can be used as a verb in science – “to maintain conditions suitable for growth.” I like thinking of Windsor Circle’s culture this way. Growing fast can produce friction as new people adjust and responsibilities shift. The mutual respect and commitment to open communication has created an environment where friction is minimal and resolution is incredibly educational for everyone.
Oh, and one last thing... I’d be remiss not to mention our green pants. We stand out at trade shows and around Durham because we are all wearing green pants, but we don’t stand out just for looks, what we hear frequently at trade shows is, “I always know the ones in the green pants are having the most fun.” Our sometimes quirky, often goofy team has a contagious energy noticeable in our industry and our community as well.
